Rebel Basketball
Coach Phil Shepard is in his twenty-fifth season here at Leake Academy. In thirty years of coaching, he has been named District Coach of the Year fifteen times and has been elected to serve as All-Star coach six times. Coach Shepard is the son of Mrs. June Shepard and the late Joe F. Shepard. He is married to the former Dot Harris. They are the parents of two children, Bobby and B.J and have two grandchildren Gavin and Ansley.
The Rebel basketball team completed their fortieth campaign in the MPSA. During these years, the Rebels have compiled a record of 953 wins and 327 losses. They have claimed 17 District Championships, 6 North or South State Championships, 8 State Championships, 2 Over-all State Championships, and 1 Southeastern Regional Championship. The Rebels are coached by Phil Shepard who is beginning his thirtieth season in the coaching profession--twenty-five of which have been here at Leake Academy.
